Axione to expand cold chain in KEZAD

Axione Development will build a 37,000 sqm cold chain facility at Abu Dhabi Food Hub in KEZAD under a 50-year lease, aimed at improving storage and handling of temperature-sensitive food products. The project is part of efforts to strengthen food logistics and improve supply chain reliability in the UAE.
Mikhail Zarkhi, Managing Partner of Axione Development, said “Through this project, we aim to support food trade with efficient and reliable infrastructure capabilities that enable business growth, strengthen supply continuity, and contribute to a more resilient food ecosystem.”
The new facility will add dedicated cold storage capacity for wholesale trade, distribution and food supply operations. This is expected to reduce spoilage risk and improve movement of imported and re-exported food products across the region.
By expanding cold chain infrastructure, the project supports faster and more stable food distribution between ports, warehouses and retail supply networks. It also helps manage rising demand for efficient food storage as trade volumes grow in the Gulf.
Abu Dhabi Food Hub is being developed as a large integrated platform for food trade and logistics, connecting storage, wholesale markets and distribution services in one location. The new facility adds to this system by improving temperature-controlled logistics, which is important for food security and steady supply chains in the region.
