Dammam Port to get new truck hub, logistics park

Saudi Arabia has announced five port and logistics projects worth more than SAR2.3 billion ($613 million) at Jubail Commercial Port and King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. The projects include the privatisation of Jubail’s container terminal, a new truck services centre, a logistics park and two logistics centres aimed at increasing cargo capacity and improving freight movement across the kingdom.
The investments are expected to improve cargo handling, reduce truck congestion and expand logistics and storage capacity at two of the country’s key ports. The projects form part of wider efforts to strengthen supply chains and support growing trade and industrial activity.
The largest project is a SAR2 billion ($533 million) concession agreement with Saudi Global Ports, the Saudi arm of PSA International, to operate and upgrade the container terminal at Jubail Commercial Port. Once completed, the terminal’s annual handling capacity is expected to reach 2.4 million TEUs.
