DHL Express has expanded its Middle East and North Africa (MENA) logistics hub at Bahrain International Airport with a US $218-million investment. This milestone reinforces Bahrain’s status as a regional logistics gateway. Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Finance and National Economy, inaugurated the expanded facility, highlighting the project’s significance in enhancing the Kingdom’s economic competitiveness. He was accompanied by key figures including John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, and Noor Suliman, CEO of DHL Express MENA.
Spanning 54,000 sq. m, the new facilities accommodate 12 DHL aircraft and process over 2 million shipments annually. Shaikh Salman toured the site, learning about its objectives and latest services. “This expansion demonstrates our unwavering confidence in the local and regional markets,” stated Noor Suliman. “We are committed to offering cutting-edge logistics solutions that empower businesses to thrive globally.”
The expansion underscores DHL Express’s long-standing commitment to Bahrain, where it has operated for nearly five decades. The project supports Bahrain’s logistics sector, a vital contributor to the economic growth agenda led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
