DHL Express has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with LODD Autonomous to test the integration of the unmanned Hili aircraft into its delivery operations in the UAE. The companies will now begin joint operational workshops to define priority routes, use cases, and how the aircraft can support DHL’s last-mile network. The move comes as delivery demand grows and road congestion becomes a bigger challenge across the country.

The agreement was signed by Rashid Al Manai, CEO of LODD, and Bachi Spiga, VP Network Operations Middle East & North Africa at DHL Express. The focus is on building a practical model for unmanned cargo delivery that is safe and scalable.

“Hili is purpose-built for the region’s operational demands, from urban density to long-distance connectivity,” said Rashid Al Manai, CEO of LODD.

Hili can carry up to 250 kg, including two Euro pallets. It has vertical take-off and landing capability, a range of 700 km with reserve, and can operate at a cruise altitude of 14,000 ft. DHL Express has been operating in the UAE for 50 years, with around 40 locations and over 150 daily flight connections.
