UAE-based dnata has taken delivery of 15 electric cars and will receive five more shortly, thereby replacing all airside diesel vehicles in its fleet at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in The Netherlands, Jan van Anrooy, MD, dnata Netherlands, said.
The transition follows the installation of airside-based electric vehicle charging infrastructure at AMS, allowing dnata an immediate shift to sustainable transport. Over 65 per cent of dnata’s 250 pieces of GSE is now electric or powered by solar energy in The Netherlands.
The remaining legacy GSE is fuelled by cent per cent hydro-treated vegetable oil biofuel, resulting in a 90 per cent reduction in total carbon dioxide emissions throughout its lifecycle.
“We are committed to investing in green equipment and infrastructure to maximize environmental efficiency across our operations. We will continue efforts to reduce our environmental footprint, contributing to dnata’s commitment to reduce global carbon emissions,” van Anrooy said.
