dnata has introduced a new centralised screening control room at its Dubai International Airport cargo facility, developed in partnership with Dubai Police, as part of efforts to improve cargo operations. The system allows authorities to monitor and operate six X-ray screening machines remotely from a single command centre, connected to dnata’s digital cargo management platform, One Cargo.
By consolidating screening processes, the new control room reduces manual touchpoints, improves throughput by around 3%, and streamlines workflows. The system supports real-time data sharing, advanced analytics, and automated reporting, helping teams make faster, informed decisions while optimising resource use and reducing unnecessary cargo movement within the warehouse.
“This project is a milestone in dnata’s journey towards smarter, more efficient cargo handling,” said Guillaume Crozier, dnata’s Chief Cargo Officer. “Through close collaboration with Dubai Police, we’ve introduced a model that strengthens security, boosts efficiency, and reflects Dubai’s commitment to innovation.”
dnata handles about 60,000 tonnes of cargo monthly at DXB and recently processed over 1 million tonnes across its Dubai facilities in a year, reflecting a 30% year-on-year growth. Rising e-commerce, a growing consumer base, and Dubai’s strategic location are driving cargo volumes higher, highlighting the need for innovation in logistics operations.
The control room is part of dnata’s broader digital transformation, which includes exploring autonomous mobile robots for warehouse transport, and automated dimensioning and load-optimisation tools. These initiatives aim to improve efficiency, space utilisation, and operational precision, ensuring faster, safer, and more intelligent cargo handling across Dubai’s air freight network.
