DP World Cochin handled the largest container vessel to date, MSC MARA, at the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT). The MSC MARA, measuring 364 metres in length, 51 metres in width, and with a capacity of 15,934 TEUs, is one of the largest vessels to dock at any Indian port and the largest to berth at ICTT Cochin. This milestone comes as DP World’s ICTT Cochin surpasses the handling of over 7 million TEUs since its inception. In December 2023, ICTT enhanced its capabilities by commissioning two ship-to-shore (STS) mega max cranes, which can manage up to 25 container rows. These upgrades, along with four new e-RTGs and expanded yard capacity, facilitate faster vessel TAT and promote sustainable cargo movement. “The berthing of MSC MARA underscores our terminal’s strategic importance as a premier gateway,” said a DP World Cochin spokesperson.
