Dubai has approved a landmark Virtual Warehouses Initiative to enhance logistics efficiency and streamline the movement of high-value goods. Overseen by Dubai Customs, the first phase enables temporary imports into the emirate under a new admission declaration, removing customs duties and financial guarantees on artworks while suspending duties on privately owned pieces for up to three years. The initiative eliminates geographical restrictions, simplifies extension procedures, and introduces virtual replicas for advanced, continuous tracking, reinforcing supply chain visibility. Building on the successful ‘Art Flow’ pilot, it delivers cost and operational efficiencies for logistics providers handling specialised cargo. Approved during a meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the initiative forms part of a broader package to strengthen trade, investment, and economic performance. By facilitating seamless entry and monitoring of high-value goods, Dubai is positioning itself as a global hub for virtual warehousing and specialised logistics solutions.
