Dubai Customs has introduced a major cross-border e-commerce initiative that waives service charges for shipments valued up to AED 30,000, as part of its push to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global hub for digital trade. The move is linked to the Dubai Customs cross-border e-commerce platform, a blockchain-based system designed to simplify online trade, reduce manual intervention, and speed up clearance processes for e-commerce shipments entering and leaving the emirate.

Under the initiative, customers registered on the platform benefit from exemptions on customs service charges, including declaration, amendment, cancellation, and inspection fees, for eligible e-commerce goods. The goal is to support the fast-growing online retail sector while improving transparency and ensuring smoother movement of goods.

Rashid Almuheiri, Senior Consultant in Customer Service Development, Dubai Customs, says the system allows the entire customs journey, from purchase to clearance to be automated, with minimal human intervention.
