Dubai has handled more than 296,000 tonnes of essential cargo since March, including food, medicines, and other daily-use goods, through coordinated air cargo operations across the emirate during shifting trends in the region in the early part of the year.
The cargo was moved through joint efforts between airlines, ground handlers and government entities. Key partners included Emirates SkyCargo and dnata, along with authorities such as Dubai Customs and Dubai Municipality.
The main impact has been faster handling and clearance of critical goods. Close coordination allowed quicker processing at airports, reduced delays, and ensured cargo moved without long stoppages. This was important as global supply chains faced pressure and delays in other regions.
Air cargo also helped maintain steady supply in local markets. Perishable items like food and temperature-sensitive goods such as pharmaceuticals were prioritised, reducing the risk of shortages.
The operations show how air freight supports supply chains during disruptions. By keeping cargo moving, it helped businesses continue operations and ensured essential goods remained available across Dubai.
