Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) and Gulftainer have signed an agreement to move up to 250,000 tonnes of aluminium cargo from the UAE’s East Coast in the first year, increasing to 300,000 tonnes in the second. Gulftainer will further develop port facilities to handle the additional volumes.

The agreement will add cargo-handling capacity for one of the UAE’s major exports and strengthen the movement of aluminium from the East Coast to international markets. EGA supplies aluminium to more than 400 customers in over 50 countries.

For the cargo sector, the higher volumes will support greater use of East Coast port infrastructure and provide additional capacity for handling, storing and moving aluminium for export. The arrangement also gives EGA another route for its outbound cargo as it expands its global customer base.

EGA’s aluminium is the UAE’s largest made-in-the-UAE export after oil and gas. The company sold more than 2.83 million tonnes of cast metal in 2025.

Farid Belbouab, Group CEO of Gulftainer, said the agreement would support EGA’s growing logistics demand through the UAE’s East Coast and provide a reliable gateway to global markets.
