Egypt is focusing on becoming a global logistics powerhouse, leveraging its unique geographic position and expanded infrastructure. According to Hossam Heiba, President, GAFI, the government aims to increase its share of global trade passing through the Suez Canal from 12.5 to 20 per cent by transforming surrounding lands into a cross-country trade corridor linking the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. Upgrades to Egypt’s road network, ports and railways, including high-speed train lines, are attracting logistics investors. Egypt envisions growth in logistics services such as re-export, warehousing and distribution hubs. Egypt is positioning itself as a central logistics and trade hub for Africa, Asia, and Europe, fuelling job creation and enhancing supply chain connectivity.
