Egypt’s freight and logistics market is expected to grow to $14.66 billion by 2031 from $10.93 billion in 2025, with the sector expanding through port upgrades, logistics corridors and digital trade systems, according to the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC).
The growth is being supported by Egypt’s efforts to improve supply chain connectivity through modern infrastructure. The country is developing integrated logistics corridors linking industrial, agricultural and mining areas with ports through railways, roads, dry ports and logistics zones.
Egypt’s ports remain central to trade movement, with around 90% of foreign trade passing through seaports. The country is also using digital platforms, including the National Single Window for Foreign Trade Facilitation (NAFEZA), to speed up customs processes, reduce cargo waiting times and improve shipment visibility.
The transport and storage sector contributed about 5% to Egypt’s GDP between FY2015/16 and FY2024/25. The sector also supported 2.9 million jobs in Q1 2026. The IDSC report said logistics operators are increasingly adopting greener solutions, including electric vehicles, energy-efficient warehouses and sustainable transport models, as Egypt works to build more efficient supply chains.
