Egypt plans Austrian logistics zone in SCZONE

Egypt is set to establish an Austrian logistics zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), giving Austrian companies a base to store, handle and distribute goods to Arab and African markets. The development is aimed at supporting the movement of Austrian exports through Egypt and into key regional destinations.

The zone could strengthen links between Austrian manufacturers and markets across the Middle East and Africa. It could also support demand for warehousing, road transport, cargo handling and distribution services around SCZONE.

For logistics operators, the development could create additional cargo flows between production facilities, storage sites and regional markets. Using Egypt as a distribution base could also allow companies to consolidate shipments before moving them onwards to different destinations.

The plan comes as Egypt seeks to attract more Austrian investment and production activity. More manufacturing within or near SCZONE could generate additional inbound and outbound cargo, supporting the wider logistics network.

Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt said Austrian businesses should explore investment and production opportunities in Egypt, while noting that bilateral trade remains below expectations.
