Egypt’s trade deficit narrowed by 9.5 per cent in April 2025, reaching US$3.42 billion, as export activity picked up pace, as per CAPMAS. Total exports rose to US$4.10 billion, led by a 74.3 per cent jump in petroleum products, 24.7 per cent in ready-made garments, and 51.4 per cent in processed foods, indicating growing outbound cargo volumes. Imports climbed 4.4 per cent to US$7.53 billion, with hikes in natural gas and plastics, while wheat and pharmaceutical imports dropped. These shifts signal evolving trade flows that are expected to influence regional shipping, port activity, and cross-border logistics.
