Egypt is set to establish a global logistics distribution hub in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) to expand cargo handling, storage and redistribution activities across international trade routes. The hub will be developed as part of efforts to attract foreign investment and strengthen the country’s role in regional and global supply chains, thereby expanding its presence in the Middle East.

The project will focus on creating a central logistics base to move goods more efficiently between Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia, using Egypt’s geographic position and port network along the Suez Canal corridor.

“Egypt is pursuing an ambitious agenda to attract further investment into the SCZONE while advancing the localisation of strategic industries and logistics activities,” said Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt.

The hub is expected to increase cargo traffic through SCZONE ports and boost demand for warehousing, freight handling and distribution services. It will also support stronger integration between ports, industrial zones and transport networks. The initiative aligns with Egypt’s broader plan to expand infrastructure-led trade capacity and position SCZONE as a key logistics and redistribution centre.
