Egypt reduced fees for cargo shipments after it made Advance Cargo Information (ACI) system mandatory from 1 January, said Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk. The Ministry cut the cost for automating and verifying commercial documents for incoming shipments by US$ 80, bringing the total fee to US$ 95 per shipment. The reduction will apply for a six-month period and promises to ease costs for airlines, freight forwarders, and importers operating in the country. “The move was part of efforts to simplify procedures while keeping strong oversight. The ACI system helps regulate the market and ensures that only compliant, high-quality goods enters Egypt,” added The Minister.
