Ethiopian Airlines expands Nigeria trade network

Ethiopian Airlines is expanding its Nigeria network with four new weekly flights to Port Harcourt and increased frequencies to Lagos and Kano. The new route is expected to strengthen trade links between Nigeria and the MENA region, supporting the movement of goods and improving access to international markets. Lagos will have 21 weekly flights and Kano 11, bringing the airline’s total operations in Nigeria to 53 weekly flights.

The expanded network will provide businesses with more connections to overseas markets through Ethiopian Airlines’ international network. It can also support time-sensitive shipments and improve trade connectivity between Nigeria, the Middle East and other regions.

The Port Harcourt service will add another international connection for businesses in the region, while increased frequencies to Lagos and Kano will provide more options for trade. The expansion is also expected to create additional business opportunities for ground handlers, airports and local transport providers.

Firiehiwot Mekonnen, General Manager of Ethiopian Airlines in Nigeria, said, “Better air connectivity can facilitate trade and investment, and contribute to Nigeria’s wider economic growth.” The airline expects the additional flights to support economic activity and strengthen Nigeria’s connections with international markets.
