Etihad Airways and Africa World Airlines have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop cargo cooperation between the UAE and West Africa. The agreement will focus on connecting Ghanaian and West African exporters with Etihad Cargo’s global network and capacity.

The partnership aims to support the movement of goods between the two regions by creating more cargo connectivity options for businesses. It could help exporters access international markets more easily and support trade flows between West Africa, the UAE and other destinations.

Arik De, Chief Commercial and Revenue Officer, Etihad Airways, said: “Ghana is one of West Africa's most dynamic aviation markets, and Africa World Airlines is the natural partner there. This framework spans passenger services, cargo and loyalty, and it will connect Ghanaian travellers and businesses to Abu Dhabi and to our network across the world's fastest-growing markets. We are here to grow with Ghana.”

The agreement comes as economic and trade links between Ghana and the UAE continue to grow. Under the MoU, both airlines will explore ways to strengthen cargo operations and improve connections for businesses involved in international trade.

The cargo cooperation is part of a wider strategic partnership between Etihad Airways and Africa World Airlines. The areas of cooperation will be introduced in stages, with the airlines working together to develop opportunities across their networks.
