Saudi Arabia’s SPARK and Oman’s Arkan have signed a strategic partnership to launch a land logistics corridor between the two countries. The route will support freight movement, improve transit operations and strengthen supply-chain links between Saudi and Omani markets.

The corridor will build on the road through the Empty Quarter, which provides a direct land connection between Saudi Arabia and Oman. The route will give businesses another option for moving goods between the two markets and wider regional destinations.

“The agreement is intended to strengthen transit traffic, improve supply-chain efficiency and facilitate the movement of goods between the two countries,” stated the Saudi Ministry of Transport.

Faster road links can reduce transit times and transport costs while supporting the movement of larger cargo volumes. The corridor will also support demand for warehousing, distribution centres, freight stations and other logistics services along the route.

The connection will link border crossings with commercial and logistics centres, improving access to regional markets for businesses. It also adds another land route to the GCC’s transport network, strengthening supply-chain options alongside maritime and air freight.

The development aligns with Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to expand the Kingdom’s regional and international transport links. The Empty Quarter road stretches about 564km from the Al-Batha-Haradh intersection to the border crossing.
