Etihad Rail has operated more than 100 freight train trips over the past nine days, transporting over 459,000 tonnes of cargo and more than 7,900 containers across the UAE. To support higher demand and maintain cargo flows, the national railway operator also added five additional freight trains daily to increase capacity across the network.

The increased rail operations helped ensure the steady movement of goods across the country, supporting businesses that depend on reliable supply chains. By moving large cargo volumes by rail, companies can transport goods more efficiently between ports, industrial zones and logistics hubs, reducing delays and improving delivery reliability.

Transportation via rail freight is also helping ease pressure on UAE road transport, even as large shipments continue to move across the country. The initiative by Etihad Rail helps move large cargo volumes over long distances, easing highway congestion and lowering transport costs for logistics operators.

For businesses and freight forwarders across the emirate, Etihad Rail is an alternative option alongside trucking and sea freight. This strengthens the overall logistics system and helps maintain supply chain stability during periods of high demand. As rail freight volumes increase, the network is expected to play a larger role in supporting trade and cargo distribution across the UAE.
