FedEx’s Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa hub at Dubai World Central (DWC) has received IATA CEIV Pharma certification, following an assessment covering more than 280 criteria. The certification covers the hub’s handling processes, storage, equipment, quality systems and regulatory compliance for pharmaceutical shipments.

The 57,000 sq m facility has a 170 sq m temperature-controlled storage area, alongside automated systems, security screening and dangerous goods handling. These capabilities support the movement of medicines and other temperature-sensitive healthcare products through the UAE.

The certification comes as demand for specialised healthcare logistics grows in the region. It can help pharmaceutical companies access handling processes designed to maintain product quality and temperature during transport.

FedEx also uses its FedEx Surround monitoring system and SenseAware sensors to track shipment location, temperature and other conditions, allowing action when required.

“Healthcare customers need logistics providers that can protect product integrity while ensuring speed and compliance,” said Taarek Hinedi, vice president, Operations and Planning & Engineering, FedEx Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa. “This certification strengthens those capabilities at our DWC hub.”
