FedEx Express has introduced 14 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter electric vans in the UAE, becoming the first FedEx market in the Middle East to deploy this model. The vans, capable of carrying up to three tons and traveling 380 kilometers per charge, will enhance FedEx’s automotive logistics operations, particularly last-mile deliveries, while helping reduce around 148 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually. This move supports the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 initiative and advances FedEx’s goal of fully electric pickup and delivery operations by 2040.
The new eSprinter fleet boosts automotive logistics efficiency across the Emirates, ensuring faster, more reliable delivery for e-commerce and commercial customers.
“Electric vehicles are transforming our automotive logistics operations in the UAE,” said Taarek Hinedi, FedEx VP of Operations, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa. “This deployment improves delivery efficiency while reducing emissions, supporting sustainable logistics and the growth of e-commerce.”
Mercedes-Benz Vans highlighted that the eSprinter is designed for demanding commercial operations, making it ideal for automotive logistics networks. FedEx also continues to enhance sustainable operations at its Dubai World Central hub, including EV charging stations, energy-efficient systems, and future solar power integration. The UAE is emerging as a regional leader in sustainable automotive logistics.
