Gulftainer plans 100,000 sqm automotive logistics park

Gulftainer has signed an agreement with United Al Saqer Heavy Equipment to develop a 100,000 sqm automotive logistics park in Khorfakkan Al Dhaid Free Economic Zone (KAFEZ), alongside a deal for the acquisition of 1,000 trucks. The projects aim to strengthen cargo distribution links between the UAE’s East Coast ports and markets across the UAE and GCC.
The first 450 trucks are expected to arrive before the end of November, with the remaining vehicles due in the first quarter of 2027. The fleet will support distribution capacity, while the logistics park will handle vehicle storage, processing and distribution.
United Al Saqer will also invest in and operate a truck workshop in Al Dhaid, expected to be the largest of its kind on the UAE East Coast. The facility will provide maintenance support for the growing trucking sector. Dedicated facilities for drivers are also being developed to provide rest areas and essential services.
Vehicles arriving through East Coast ports, including Khorfakkan, will be able to move to Al Dhaid for storage and onward distribution, using the free zone’s facilities.
Farid Belbouab, CEO of Gulftainer, said the aim was to bring together “transport, logistics, infrastructure and businesses that can support one another”.
