IATA study finds air cargo is key to KSA’s aviation growth

IATA in its latest ‘Value of Air Transport’ study, highlighted the role of air cargo in aviation growth, with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia handling 713,600 tonnes of air freight in 2023, Kamil Alawadhi, Regional Vice President for Africa and Middle East, IATA, said. Aviation in KSA supports US$ 90.6 billion of economic activity with 8.5 per cent of GDP contribution. “Aviation is a catalyst for economic and social development. The Kingdom is using connectivity as a key element of its national economic strategy under Vision 2030. Continued prioritisation of aviation as a strategic sector supported by global standards, competitive costs and smart regulation will enhance KSA’s global competitiveness, economic performance, and social development,” he added.
