IATA, Thrust Carbon partners for CO2 Connect calculations

IATA has partnered with Thrust Carbon for accurate calculation of emissions for its CO2 Connect. The pact was concluded at IATA’s World Sustainability Symposium and is scheduled to commence in October 2024. Calculations of IATA CO2 Connect emissions are based on a standardised methodology that uses airline operational (fuel burn) data. The calculations will then be provided to Thrust Carbon, who will then process them. Their user base covers the corporate travel sector who will incorporate these calculations into the flight selection process and use them for ESG monitoring and reporting. “The corporate travel sector needs accurate and comparable CO2 emissions calculations for its ESG monitoring and reporting. By working with Thrust Carbon, we will respond to this need with calculations based on actual operational data provided by a growing community of airlines,” Frederic Leger, Senior Vice President, Commercial Products and Services, IATA, said.
