In a major move to boost pharmaceutical logistics in the Middle East, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing EGP 1.3 billion (around €23.1 million) to Ibnsina Pharma (ISPH) to build a new warehouse in Egypt. The financing also supports long-term working capital for the company.
The warehouse will be designed to meet at least the EDGE Standard for energy efficiency. EBRD will provide technical advice, including an energy audit, to improve energy and resource use. Once operational, the facility is expected to cut 207 tons of carbon emissions annually and save nearly 17,000 cubic metres of water.
This new facility is a key part of Ibnsina Pharma’s strategy to expand its pharmaceutical logistics network. The company plans up to 12 new warehouses to increase storage capacity, optimise distribution routes, and handle growing demand for medicines. The upgraded network will ensure faster, safer, and more efficient delivery of pharmaceutical products across Egypt.
Egypt is the second-largest pharmaceutical market in the Middle East and North Africa, supported by domestic manufacturing and a population expected to reach 120 million by 2030. With this investment, Ibnsina Pharma strengthens its pharmaceutical logistics, making its supply chain more reliable, sustainable, and ready for future growth.
