Jordan, Russia expand cross-border trade links

Jordan and Russia are set to focus on cross-border trade and logistics, with measures to improve customs data exchange, regulatory coordination and market access. The cooperation aims to make the movement of goods between the two markets more efficient and create wider trade opportunities.

The two countries will also strengthen cooperation in transport infrastructure, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food security and investment. Jordan has highlighted its position as a logistics hub for companies seeking access to regional markets.

Both sides are also working towards stronger trade links with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), including ongoing free trade agreement negotiations and a possible joint trade and investment committee.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said Russia was ready to expand cooperation in trade, industry, investment, transport and logistics.

A protocol between Russia’s Federal Customs Service and Jordan Customs will support the exchange of customs valuation data. The two sides also agreed to improve data sharing and regulatory coordination to support Jordanian goods entering EAEU markets.
