Jordan signs MoU to advance smart logistics

Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation (JIEC) and KOUN for Drone Manufacturing have signed an MoU to explore smart logistics, automated warehouses and drone technology across Jordan’s industrial estates.
The partnership will assess how automation and AI can improve cargo handling and logistics operations within industrial zones. It will also examine the feasibility of creating a drone-based logistics network linking JIEC’s industrial estates and other selected sites.
The assessment will cover potential cargo routes, use cases, infrastructure requirements and possible pilot projects. The partners will also study the technical, operational, regulatory and commercial requirements for deploying the solutions.
For industrial logistics operators, the proposed systems could support more connected movement of goods between sites and improve warehouse operations through greater use of automation.
KOUN General Manager Christian Atnas said the cooperation would include automated warehouse and smart logistics solutions, as well as an assessment of a potential drone logistics network.
The two sides may also launch pilot projects to test the proposed solutions, with separate agreements to define their scope, performance measures and implementation plans.
The MoU also covers joint events, presentations and case studies aimed at developing the concept of smart industrial estates and highlighting the use of technology in logistics and industrial operations.
