His Majesty King Abdullah inaugurated two major projects at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), strengthening Jordan’s role as a regional logistics and air cargo hub, informed Samer Majali, CEO, Royal Jordanian. His Majesty the King laid the foundation stone for Royal Jordanian’s new Air Cargo Operations Centre, a US$ 40 million investment to expand freight capacity and streamline shipping processes. “Currently, the airline provides air freight services for various types of cargo to 54 global destinations, such as medical supplies, perishables and high-value cargo.” The King also inaugurated Hangar 7, a US$ 30-million facility by JORAMCO, which expands maintenance capacity to 240 aircraft per annum. The visit further included the JORAMCO Academy and Jordan Airline Training and Simulation Company, underscoring Jordan’s growing stature in air cargo, MRO and aviation training across the region.
