KSA achieves record air traffic performance in Jan-June 2024

General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has announced outstanding progress in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s air traffic performance between January-June 2024, with a significant growth in air cargo, flights, passengers, and connectivity. The Kingdom also recorded 41 per cent increase in cargo volumes between January and June—606,000 tonnes were transported. As a result of the measures implemented through the Saudi Aviation Strategy, the Kingdom witnessed air cargo achieve a 41 per cent growth during the first half of the year at 606,000 tonnes. Passenger numbers grew by 17 per cent to a record 62 million and flights increased by 12 per cent at 446,000, well above pre-COVID levels. Low-cost carriers (LCCs) led this growth, recording 38 per cent growth on international routes and 22 per cent growth on domestic routes. The Kingdom’s air connectivity expanded to reach 163 destinations, recording a growth of 23 per cent in 2023. “The KSA’s continued growth in air traffic performance is testament to the strategic vision reflected in the Saudi Aviation Strategy, positioning the Kingdom to a leadership position in the Middle East,” GACA stated.
