Saudi airports handled 866,000 tonnes of air cargo between January and September 2025, according to the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). The total includes 567,000 tonnes of origin-and-destination freight and 299,000 tonnes of transit cargo, underlining the Kingdom’s emergence as a logistics hub linking major global trade routes. Ahmed Al-Hassan, Assistant Minister of Transport and Logistics, said Saudi aviation is “providing unprecedented investment opportunities for the global aviation sector in support of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 agenda.”
Much of this momentum comes from Saudia Cargo, which has broadened its global reach through new partnerships with TAM Group, WFS, Cainiao, China Cargo Airlines, and FedEx. These collaborations have enhanced freight capacity and connectivity across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
The growth aligns with Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to transform the country into a key logistics gateway. The Riyadh Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ) has already attracted major international tenants, including Apple, SHEIN, Lenovo, and iHerb, signalling strong confidence from global supply chain players. Together, these developments position Saudi Arabia as a rising force in international air cargo and logistics.
