The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s transport and logistics sector has secured more than US$ 74.6 billion in investment contracts, driving sharp growth in freight volumes and logistics centres across the kingdom. Air cargo is up, warehouses are expanding and the sector is becoming a major force in the economy. Transport Minister Saleh Al Jasser said the momentum reflects a rapidly changing landscape. “The sector is moving faster than many expected. Companies want to be part of this growth story,” he said.

Saleh Al Jasser said the momentum reflects a rapidly changing landscape. “The sector is moving faster than many expected. Companies want to be part of this growth story,” he said. Air freight jumped 34 per cent year-on-year to 1.2 million tonnes, easing pressure on supply chains and giving exporters and importers more capacity. A Riyadh-based logistics operator said the shift is already visible on the ground. “Freight is moving quicker, and demand keeps climbing,” he said.

The sector also created 144,000 new jobs by the end of Q1 2025 — a 28% rise — bringing the workforce to nearly 651,000. Logistics centres across Saudi Arabia reached 24 locations, strengthening the kingdom’s role as a regional transport hub and supporting broader diversification plans.
