In the first week of December 2025, air cargo volumes from the Middle East & South Asia (MESA) grew by +6% year-on-year, according to WorldACD data. This shows that the region continues to play a strong role in global air freight, contributing to overall growth in international shipments.

Spot rates from the Middle East were part of the global increase of +3% week-on-week, alongside rises from Africa, Asia Pacific, and Europe. While Africa led with an 11% increase, the Middle East remained stable and competitive, supporting regional trade and exports. The growth in cargo volumes reflects the Middle East’s key role as a hub connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Overall, worldwide cargo volumes were up +1% week-on-week, with strong recovery from the US after Thanksgiving. Compared with last year, global tonnages grew +5%, with the Middle East contributing +6% to this growth.

The region continues to handle a mix of general cargo, commercial goods, and high-value shipments. With its strategic location and strong airline network, the Middle East remains a vital part of global air cargo, helping businesses move goods efficiently across continents and maintain reliable supply chains.
