Global air cargo demand rose 11.2% year-on-year in February 2026, according to International Air Transport Association, with Middle Eastern carriers outperforming at 16.5% growth. Capacity in the region climbed 13.5%, reflecting strong trade flows, particularly on Middle East–Asia lanes. However, late-month geopolitical tensions across the region are clouding outlook. Willie Walsh warned that rising fuel costs, supply constraints and disruption to Gulf cargo hubs could impact full-year performance. Despite volatility, strengthening global trade, improved manufacturing sentiment and resilient demand trends continue to support the region’s air cargo sector.
