The Port of NEOM has completed the pilot of a new intra-regional trade corridor linking the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Iraq. According to a release, the initiative in collaboration with the Logistics Private Sector Engagement Council (LPSEC), reduces transit time from Egypt by 50 per cent compared to traditional routes. The first trial shipment travelled from Cairo via Safaga Port to NEOM, then overland to Erbil, Iraq, which covers 900 km. The corridor integrates inland and sea routes, enhancing connectivity across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, the corridor strengthens the Kingdom’s role as a regional logistics powerhouse and opens new channels for cross-border trade and economic growth.
