Oman has introduced new rules to manage local and foreign trucks and improve cargo movement through its ports. The plan includes faster truck entry and exit, electronic tracking, a single digital system for all operations, easier permits for heavy cargo, and fast-track lanes for compliant trucks. It also allows container transfers between trucks and flexible, round-the-week operations.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology is leading the move with support from the Royal Oman Police and the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones.

The changes are aimed at reducing delays at ports and land borders, which often slow down cargo deliveries. By using the OneWB digital platform, truck movements can be tracked in real time, helping authorities and operators plan better and avoid congestion.

For the logistics sector, this means more reliable transit times and fewer hold-ups. Faster turnaround of trucks can lower transport costs and improve supply chain efficiency. Direct contracting with Omani drivers may also support local transport activity while keeping cargo moving without gaps.
