Nippon Express Europe has agreed to use Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for air freight with Lufthansa Cargo “in the future”. The two companies stated they have “contractually agreed to advocate the use of SAF when transporting air freight”. The agreement reached with Lufthansa Cargo includes contributing to certified climate protection projects for the so-called well-to-tank emissions that arise during the production and supply of SAF. “We have enjoyed a trusting long-standing relationship with Nippon Express Europe as a global partner,” said Ashwin Bhat, Chief Executive, Lufthansa Cargo. “We appreciate working jointly with Nippon Express Europe on sustainability goals important to both of us. “Together can we succeed in making our business more environmentally friendly along the entire supply chain. The more SAF is used in air freight, the more likely we are to succeed in moving away from fossil fuels, making the air freight industry sustainable.”
