Oman is expanding cooperation with China in pharma logistics, with plans to build cold chain infrastructure, improve storage and transport systems, and attract investment to strengthen the supply of medicines and medical products.

The focus is on improving how pharmaceutical goods are handled across the supply chain, especially temperature-sensitive products. Plans include expanding warehousing, upgrading transport networks, and linking ports, free zones, and industrial hubs to ensure faster and more reliable distribution.

By aligning with China’s large-scale production and distribution systems, Oman aims to create smoother end-to-end logistics. This could help reduce delays, improve handling standards, and support steady access to essential medicines.

The move is part of efforts to reduce dependence on imports and build stronger local supply chains for the healthcare sector. It also supports Oman’s position as a regional hub connecting Asia, the Middle East, and Africa for pharmaceutical distribution. A delegation from the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones is working with Chinese companies to take the initiative forward.
