Oman cargo volumes cross 143 million tonnes: OCCI

Oman’s cargo volumes crossed 143 million tonnes in 2025, according to data shared by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), represented by its Transport and Logistics Committee, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology. Container handling also rose to more than 5.1 million TEUs, while logistics investments stood at around RO 3.4 billion.
The increase reflects stronger movement of goods through ports, shipping routes and land transport networks, driven by higher import, export and re-export activity. It also indicates growing demand for logistics services such as warehousing, cargo handling and distribution.
Eng Hamoud bin Salem al Saadi, Second Vice Chairman of the OCCI Board of Directors, said the sector is seeing steady development supported by infrastructure and trade growth. He said logistics indicators show continued improvement across key areas linked to transport and supply chains.
Higher cargo volumes are expected to improve supply chain efficiency by increasing utilisation of ports and logistics facilities and reducing delays in freight movement. It also supports faster cargo processing and better connectivity between trade routes.
The trend reinforces Oman’s role as a regional logistics hub, with goods moving through its networks to markets across the GCC and beyond, supported by ongoing investments in transport and logistics infrastructure.
