DHL Express is increasing its investment and air-network presence in Oman to connect local businesses to global markets and grow outbound shipments. The company has invested around €30 million in a new state-of-the-art facility and operates near-daily flights from Bahrain to Oman, supported by about US$10 million per year in operating costs.

Alexandr Aboymov, General Manager of DHL Express in Oman, said the goal is to provide Omani businesses with fast, reliable access to international markets while developing exports from the sultanate.

The Muscat International Airport facility, opened in January 2025, spans 12,621 sqm and handles around 2,400 shipments per hour for more than 4,200 customers. It includes import/export gateways, ground operations, and upgraded security, while integrating green initiatives such as solar panels to support DHL’s net-zero 2050 targets. DHL also operates a facility at the Al Wajajah Border to accelerate road shipments.

About 70% of DHL Oman staff are local, reflecting the company’s commitment to workforce localisation. The expansion aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and the Logistics Strategy 2040, which aim to make the country a major logistics hub, targeting a sector contribution of RO 36 billion by 2040.

Aboymov said, “We strongly believe Omani businesses deserve the best possible connection to the world.” The Oman expansion is part of a wider €500 million regional investment plan to strengthen logistics infrastructure and export capacity across the Middle East.
