Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) and CMA CGM Group will invest US$434 million (SAR1.6 billion) to develop Terminal 4 at Jeddah Islamic Port, adding up to 2.6 million TEUs of annual cargo-handling capacity. The project will also add 10 new cranes and advanced terminal technology.
Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CMA CGM Group, said, "As global trade landscape continues to evolve and infrastructures need to expand and modernise, terminals are becoming increasingly strategic assets — essential to securing our operations, strengthening major trade corridors and providing our customers with greater reliability. This investment reflects our long-term commitment to Saudi Arabia and our determination to continue supporting the Kingdom as it strengthens its position as a leading global trade and logistics hub."
The additional capacity will support the growing movement of goods through Saudi Arabia and provide more room to handle imports and exports. It will strengthen cargo flows through Jeddah and support the Kingdom’s wider trade and logistics requirements.
The new facility will be developed next to RSGT’s existing terminal as part of its current concession. The investment will expand the port’s handling capability and improve the efficiency of cargo operations.
For the logistics sector, the project will increase available cargo capacity and support smoother movement of goods through the Kingdom. It will also strengthen connections between port operations and inland supply chains, supporting the flow of goods to and from key markets.
The project forms part of Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Vision 2030. RSGT and CMA CGM will jointly develop and operate the facility, with the investment providing additional capacity for future growth in Saudi trade. The project is expected to strengthen Jeddah Islamic Port’s role as a major cargo gateway and support the resilience and efficiency of Saudi Arabia’s import and export supply chains.
