Oman, Rwanda build trade, transport links

Oman and Rwanda have agreed to strengthen cooperation in transport, logistics and trade, including an MoU on logistics and the development of inland and dry ports. The move is aimed at improving cargo connectivity and supporting higher trade flows between the two countries.

The logistics cooperation will support the development of inland and dry port infrastructure, helping connect cargo more efficiently between ports and inland markets. It also provides scope for stronger transport links and logistics networks to support trade between Oman, Rwanda and their wider regional markets.

The two countries also plan to strengthen cooperation in investment, energy, mining, agriculture and communications, with a focus on increasing bilateral trade.

The agreement will also support investment promotion and partnerships between the public and private sectors.

The two sides said they would strengthen cooperation in “transport, communications, and information technology”, while working to expand their wider economic partnership.

The logistics and inland port cooperation provides a foundation for stronger cargo movement and trade connectivity between the Middle East and East Africa.
