Oman to modernise cargo infra at Muscat airport

Oman is stepping up investment in cargo infra as part of its 11th Five-Year Development Plan, with the State General Budget 2026 allocating RO 900 million for variou projects. A key focus will be the delivery of new cargo facilities at Muscat International Airport. The project includes the completion of a dedicated aircraft maintenance building and modern cargo infrastructure aimed at strengthening Oman’s air freight handling capacity and supporting trade growth. In parallel, the government will move forward with the Oman Airspace Strategic Project, which is expected to improve airspace management and indirectly benefit cargo operations through smoother and more efficient flight movements. Also, RO 400 million for economic transformation initiatives in the civil aviation sector.
