The Oman–UAE railway project has reached 40% completion, with construction moving quickly across key cargo corridors like Al Ain, Sohar and Al Buraimi. The 238km rail line is being built to move freight faster between ports, industrial zones and logistics hubs, improving cross-border trade and supply chains.

The railway line will play an important role in strengthening regional logistics. The project, led by Hafeet Rail, is designed to ease pressure on road transport by shifting cargo to rail. This is expected to cut transit times, lower costs and make freight movement more reliable across the region. It will also connect major ports and industrial areas, helping goods move smoothly between Oman and the UAE and beyond.

Heavy construction is underway, including tunnels, bridges and large-scale earthworks. Over 27 million cubic metres of earth has been moved so far, along with major concrete works and infrastructure development to support future cargo operations. Once completed, the rail link is expected to improve supply chain resilience, support faster freight movement and create a more connected logistics network across the Gulf.

Officials say the integrated setup will strengthen regional logistics efficiency and improve connectivity between global suppliers and Gulf markets. The port is expected to support higher cargo volumes while improving flexibility and resilience in trade movements across the region.
