OQ Trading International has signed Bangladesh’s first short-term LNG supply agreement, a company release stated. Partnering with Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Ltd (RPGCL), the deal ensures the delivery of 17 LNG cargoes from August 2025 to December 2026, five in 2025 and 12 in 2026. Unlike long-term Brent-linked contracts, the agreement adopts JKM-based pricing with a fixed US$ 0.15/MMBtu premium, reducing reliance on volatile spot markets. This contract is designed to stabilise supply during high-demand periods and mitigate price fluctuations ahead of increased long-term imports from 2026 onward. With 124 LNG cargoes already supplied to Bangladesh, Oman-based OQ Trading cements its role as a key player in South Asia’s energy logistics landscape.
