Qatar has opened a new land transit route with Saudi Arabia to keep goods moving smoothly and strengthen supply chains. The route allows cargo to pass through the Abu Samra border using a special transit system with fast-track lanes and accelerated customs clearance through the electronic platform Al-Nadeeb. This ensures goods move quickly and efficiently across the border.

The system is designed to support continuous supply of essential goods and make processes faster and simpler for businesses, exporters, and importers. By completing procedures electronically, Al-Nadeeb reduces paperwork and speeds up deliveries, helping cargo move seamlessly from origin to destination.

Qatar joined the TIR international road transport system in 2019, which allows sealed containers to travel safely under customs supervision across multiple countries. The TIR network now covers 76 countries worldwide, providing a reliable framework for smooth and efficient logistics.

The new land route is expected to strengthen Qatar’s logistics infrastructure and ensure supply chains remain strong and resilient. By combining modern customs systems, fast clearance, and international transit frameworks, the initiative helps maintain efficient trade flows, supporting economic growth and the reliable delivery of goods throughout the country.
