The General Authority of Customs (GAC) has launched a new package of artificial intelligence (AI) services to improve trade, logistics, and supply chain efficiency in the country. Inaugurated by Minister of Finance HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, the initiative is part of GAC’s Strategic Plan 2024-2030, aimed at building a smart, secure, and efficient customs system.

The AI tools include smart classification systems that help importers, exporters, and customs brokers correctly categorize goods from the start, reducing delays and errors. A Pre-Classification service allows users to request expert advice while supporting customs officers with smart suggestions. The package also introduces autonomous decision-making tools and a virtual assistant that provides instant, data-driven guidance, making trade processes faster and more accurate.

By using AI, GAC enhances operational efficiency across ports, strengthens the safety of supply chains, and simplifies customs procedures for businesses. In 2025, the Authority processed around 6.8 million customs declarations, generating QR4 billion in revenue.

Chairman of the General Authority of Customs HE Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal said, "Customs plays a pivotal role in facilitating trade, enhancing compliance with regulations and legislation, supporting market stability, strengthening stakeholder confidence, and creating a stable economic environment capable of responding to development requirements and global transformations. This contributes to consolidating the State of Qatar's position as a leading and secure destination for trade."

These developments position Qatar as a reliable hub for trade and investment, supporting regional cooperation within the GCC and helping businesses navigate growing trade volumes more smoothly. AI-driven customs services are set to play a central role in the country’s logistics and supply chain growth.
