Queen Alia cargo volumes rise 3.7% in August

Queen Alia International Airport in Jordan handled 7,925 tonnes of cargo in August 2026, up 4.4% from July and 3.7% from the same month last year. The increase points to continued growth in cargo activity at the airport during the summer period, supporting freight flows through Jordan.

The airport also recorded 7,868 aircraft movements during the month, a 6.3% increase month-on-month but a 6.1% decline year-on-year. Passenger traffic reached 1.04 million, although it remained 3.7% below August 2025.

The rise in cargo volumes comes as activity at Queen Alia International Airport strengthens following fluctuations earlier in the year. Higher freight traffic provides additional capacity for businesses moving goods through Jordan and supports the airport’s role in regional trade.

Nicolas Deviller, Chief Executive Officer of Airport International Group, said August’s performance reflected the airport’s role in supporting Jordan’s economic activity and connectivity with the region and the wider world.

The airport operator said the monthly results showed stronger activity across passenger, aircraft and cargo traffic. For the cargo sector, the increase in August provides a positive month-on-month trend as freight demand continues to build during the summer period.
