Royal Air Maroc Cargo boosts European freight network

Royal Air Maroc has added four new European destinations this summer, increasing belly cargo capacity and strengthening cargo links through its Casablanca hub. The new routes to Bilbao and Alicante in Spain, Verona in Italy and Lille in France will support cargo movement between Europe and Africa, while also improving connections for Middle East shipments travelling through Casablanca to international markets. The routes will mainly be operated by Boeing 737 aircraft, offering up to three tonnes of cargo capacity per flight.

The new destinations are expected to provide more options for freight forwarders and exporters by improving access to Royal Air Maroc’s wider network across Africa, the Americas and Asia. The additional capacity will support the movement of industrial goods, pharmaceuticals and consolidated shipments.

“As a key strategic gateway into Africa, our focus at Royal Air Maroc is on connecting high-potential regional markets in Europe, that can generate consistent point-to-point demand and feed cargo flows through Casablanca to destinations across Africa and other international markets in the Americas and Asia,” Rita Chraibi, Vice-President Cargo, Royal Air Maroc, explains. “While there is keen competition among leisure-focused carriers operating to these destinations, Royal Air Maroc’s ability to also deliver exceptional cargo services for a broad range of commodities, is what sets us apart. These new routes support both import and export flows and increase the efficiency of our growing international network through improved frequencies, greater flexibility and more attractive transit times.”

Bilbao expands the airline’s presence in northern Spain, while Alicante connects the Costa Blanca region and the Moroccan diaspora. Verona became Royal Air Maroc’s eighth destination in Italy in June 2026, while Lille was added in July to increase capacity from northern France.

Royal Air Maroc Cargo now serves more than 81 destinations worldwide. The airline’s European network continues to support cargo flows into Africa by connecting regional markets with its long-haul widebody and freighter operations from Casablanca.
